Steve Loza, UCLA Ethnomusicologist and Professor, while Director of the UNM Arts of the Americas Institute, UNM College of Fine Arts, organized the "Towards a Theory for Religion as Art: Guadalupe, Orishas, and Sufi Conference", UNM May 12 - 14, 2004. Thirty Two speakers participated in eight different panels. UNM Press is preparing the papers for publication. “If there is to be true globalization, it’s going to happen through the arts, not economics or politicization.”
